Greetings,

Archipelago Adventures of Sitka Alaska provides fully guided boat based and fly-in hunts for Sitka Black-tail Deer.  We have a variety of hunts available to suit different levels of experience and physical condition.

Our hunting area covers portions of Baranof and Chichigof  Islands in Unit 4 of Southeast Alaska. This area has the highest population density of Sitka Black-tails in the world.
We maximize your chances for success by hunting areas that have very little hunting pressure, and by strategically timing the hunts to take advantage of natural migration patterns of the deer.

In August we hunt the alpine ridges for bucks in velvet.  This hunt is very physically challenging and also very rewarding. While you are here we invite you to take advantage of the spectacular saltwater fishing available this time of year.

The November hunt is based around the peak of the rut, at this time of year the bucks have moved down into the lower elevations and respond well to a fawn bleat. This hunt may require moderate hiking depending on snow levels.

By December the snow usually pushes the deer down near sea level where they can be spotted on the beach from a skiff. This hunt is generally very low impact and is a good choice for those with limited physical capabilities.

During the Boat based hunts of November and December your lodging and home cooked meals will be provided on board the 50' F/V Sea Bear, which provides a warm  dry place to relax and enjoy the scenery.  All late season hunts include Sea Ducks, crabbing, shrimping, and fishing. We limit our groups to a maximum of four hunters on the "Sea Bear" to avoid crowding, but can accommodate groups of five or six on a larger vessel. This is a great hunt for young inexperienced hunters, or for the seasoned hunter who wants to round out his North American Deer collection with a nice Sitka Black-tail.
